VOTE FOR CANDIDATE WHO BELIEVES IN BLUE ZONES
Too often, we think of healthcare as something that happens inside a clinic. But the research is clear: where we live, what we eat, whether we have stable housing, safe places to walk, and strong community connections — these social determinants shape our health far more than any single medical visit.
Mike Brosius understands this! That's why I'm enthusiastically supporting him for the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners, District 3. His work championing Blue Zones concepts for Clatsop County reflects a deep commitment to building the conditions that allow people to thrive — not just survive.
Blue Zones principles address exactly the social determinants that public health experts prioritize: walkable environments, access to nutritious food, social connectedness, and purposeful community life. This isn't abstract ideology — it's evidence-based, community-driven health promotion.
His board service with the Columbia Memorial Hospital Foundation and his involvement with the North Coast Food Web further demonstrate that Mike sees health as a whole-community endeavor. Food security, local economic resilience, and healthcare access are not separate issues — they are deeply intertwined, and Mike has the experience to address them together.
Our county already has dedicated public health coalitions working on community health improvement. What we need on the Board of Commissioners is someone who recognizes and amplifies that work. Mike Brosius is that person.
A vote for Mike Brosius is a vote for a healthier, more equitable Clatsop County — where the conditions for good health are available to everyone, not just a fortunate few.
